Reflections On Stop Lights

Commemorating reckless misconceptions

Stagnant yellow light struggles

Through painted city street signs

Reflecting apathetic behavior

and waiting.

carefully calculated color

Hazard light love

Rush hour aging

Day slips into night

Slowly satellites push into the sky

urban comatose.

color carefully calculated

Life sentences

Of unregulated red lights

And moving violations

Highway road ornaments

once vivacious.

calculating color carefully

Vocabulary exposed to the mercy of their own definitions

Intentions roll like marbles in the mouth

Choking down the desire for honesty

We sit like strangers waiting for a bus.
